The Monroe City Council will conduct a second reading of Ordinance 2023-02, An ordinance amending the City of Monroe Weeds Code removing waivers for mowing tall grass within the City of Monroe. The Council will deliberate on the Ordinance at 6PM at the Monroe Community Center, 605 Main Street. A copy of the ordinance is available at City Hall or viewed in the Council Packet.
110th Anniversary of the Last Railroad Spike
Through generous support from the Albany and Eastern Railroad, the City celebrated the 110th anniversary of the last spike driven in Monroe connecting Corvallis and Eugene. Read more about the event and rail history through Monroe.
Mark Murray, City of Monroe Public Works, “drives the last spike” at the 2023 Monroe Festival in front of the Baker House. The original tracks are shown and were uncovered for the event by an Albany and Eastern Rail Crew. Through donations, the City will commemorate the location with a plaque.

A public meeting of the City Council of the City of Monroe will be held on June 26, 2023, 6:00 PM, at the Monroe Community Center located at 605 N Main Street, Monroe, Oregon. The purpose of this meeting is to discuss the budget for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2023 as approved by the City of Monroe Budget Committee and proposed use of State Shared Revenues. A summary of the budget is presented below. A copy of the budget may be inspected or obtained at Monroe City Hall, 664 Commercial St., Monroe, OR, between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. This budget is for an annual budget period. This budget was prepared on a basis of accounting that is the same as the preceding year.
