The Monroe City Council will be conducting a public hearing on Monday, October 10, 2022, 6 PM, at the Monroe Community Center, 605 Main Street, Monroe, for the purpose of accepting any and all public comment prior to deliberating and deciding on a recommendation from the Monroe Planning Commission to adopt new code language to govern uses and improvements including construction in the Riverside District Overlay and modifying the Comprehensive Plan to create Commercial zoning in residential areas.

PLANNING COMMISSION PUBLIC HEARING 9-7-2022
The Monroe Planning Commission will be conducting a public hearing on Wednesday, September 7, 2022, for the purpose of accepting any and all public comment prior to deliberating and deciding on a recommendation to city council for their decision to adopt new code language to govern uses and improvements including construction in the Riverside District Overlay and modifying the Comprehensive Plan to create Commercial zoning in residential areas.

Mayor Dan Sheets signed a proclamation designating the month of September as First Responders’ Appreciation Month in the City of Monroe, and urge all community members to express their personal gratitude to those who serve us all so selflessly.

Major ADA Ramp Construction Starting October 3rd
ODOT is starting up major construction to update and install ADA curb ramps the week of October 3rd. Construction work will be on weekdays from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Expect:
-Construction noise.
-Shoulder and lane closures.
-Work zone controlled by flaggers, as needed.
-Pedestrians, including those with disabilities, will have access through or around work zones.
-Lane closure and flagging when working at the Commercial Street and Kelly Street intersections with OR 99.
The curb ramps are being built in batches, or stages, so you might see some periods of inactivity and some of the work is weather dependent so the schedule may change – visit TripCheck.com for the most up to date information on road conditions and traffic.

Special Council Meeting 6-13-22
Mayor Dan Sheets has called for a Special City Council meeting to be held on June 13, 2022 at 7:00 pm. The meeting will be held at the Monroe Community Library Meeting Room located at 308 N 5th Street, Monroe, Oregon. The meeting will be available for viewing via ZOOM.
The purpose of the Special Council Meeting is to review recommendations and decided how city resources including the Monroe Community Library meeting rooms, City Park, and the Monroe Community Center will be managed including reservations and condition of use.
