Mayor Dan Sheets has called for a Special City Council meeting to be held on December 6, 2023 at 6:00 pm. The meeting will be held at the Monroe Community Center, 605 Main Street, Monroe, Oregon.
The purpose of the Special Council Meeting is to consider information or records, in executive session pursuant to ORS 192.660(2)(f), alleging City Land Use Code violations on the subject property located at 980 Commercial Street, Monroe, Oregon.
This is an open and public meeting; however, the executive session will be closed to the public consistent with ORS 192.660(4). Any decisions rendered will be in open session. There will be a limited public comment period after the executive session has concluded.
The Monroe Planning Commission will be conducting a public hearing on Monday, December 4, 2023, for the purpose of accepting any and all public comment prior to deliberating and deciding on allowing a non-conforming use of property currently zoned as Light Industrial.

LAND USE ACTION REQUEST: Allow retail operations, on property zoned Light Commercial that is currently within the City’s Riverside District Overlay and allows mixed use (residential and commercial activities). Diversify and expand Monroe’s economic base by providing opportunities to add additional commercial space for mixed use areas for both industrial and commercial development.
