Economic Development Committee
The City of Monroe Economic Development Committee was formed by the City Council in June 2021. The Economic Development Committee’s primary function is to serve in an advisory capacity to the City Council in matters pertaining to economic development in Monroe. The committee’s mission is to enhance the vitality of the local economy by supporting existing business and attracting new businesses to Monroe, encouraging economic development consistent with the City of Monroe’s 2020-2040 Comprehensive Plan, and promoting Monroe’s agrarian heritage, natural environment, neighborly culture, and local economy.

The Economic Development Committee is comprised of three subcommittees, which includes:
- Beautification Subcommittee
- Community Engagement Subcommittee
- Monroe Festival Subcommittee
Beautification Subcommittee
The Beautification Subcommittee promotes community pride and involvement through beautification projects by forming cooperative partnerships with individual volunteers, schools, civic organizations, businesses and City Administration. This subcommittee meets on the third Wednesday of the month at 6 p.m.

Community Engagement Subcommittee
The Community Engagement Subcommittee provides residents an opportunity to enhance the City of Monroe’s interaction with the public. This subcommittee acts in an advisory capacity to the Economic Development Committee and City Council regarding Community Engagement activities; identifying topics of interest and methods or techniques to improve community engagement; evaluate, provide feedback, and make recommendations on selected City programs, events, and activities; serve as social media ambassadors for the City by engaging with the City’s social media platforms; inform the subcommittee of community events that may be of interest to the City Council. This subcommittee meets on the third Wednesday of the month at 6:30 p.m.

Monroe Festival Subcommittee
The Monroe Festival Subcommittee was formed as part of the Beautification Committee (later called Monroe Vision & Revitalization Committee) and the City of Monroe’s partnership with the Oregon Main Street Program in 2017. The first Monroe Festival, called Vino, Vintage & Victory or V3, was on April 27, 2019 and this event was attended by over 1,000 participants. The second official Monroe Festival was held on April 30, 2022. This subcommittee creates, plans, promotes, and coordinates this event within the City of Monroe which brings together residents, community groups, and businesses to promote neighborliness, civic spirt, and sense of community. This subcommittee meets monthly beginning in September and more frequently closer to festival time during the months of March and April. Check the City Calendar for meeting dates and times.
